Formula 1 returns to Istanbul in 2027. The Turkish Grand Prix 2027 is set for 1–3 October at Istanbul Park, with the race on Sunday 3 October. Tickets are not on sale yet. Hotels are already filling. Here is what is confirmed, what is still to come, and how to plan the weekend so the race is the only thing you think about.

We plan race weekends for individual guests, families and companies hosting clients. This guide covers the circuit, the dates, tickets, getting there and where to stay. We will update it as the official schedule and ticket details are published.

When is the Turkish Grand Prix 2027?

The Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), which delivers the event with Formula 1, lists the 2027 weekend as follows:

DayDateTrack sessions
Friday1 October 2027Practice
Saturday2 October 2027Qualifying
Sunday3 October 2027The race

Exact session times will follow the official timetable, which is usually published a few months before the event. Some reports have given a different race day. We use the organisers' published dates, and we will confirm them again when the timetable appears.

The 2027 race is the start of a new five-year agreement that keeps Istanbul Park on the Formula 1 calendar until 2031. It will be the tenth Turkish Grand Prix, and the first since 2021.

Istanbul Park: the circuit

Istanbul Park opened in 2005 and was designed by Hermann Tilke. It hosted Formula 1 every year from 2005 to 2011, then returned in 2020 and 2021. The track is about 5.3 km long, with 14 corners, and runs anticlockwise, which is unusual in Formula 1. Its elevation changes are some of the most dramatic on the calendar.

Its most famous corner is Turn 8, a long, fast left-hander with four apexes. It is often described as one of the great corners of modern Formula 1. The long load is very hard on tyres, and the corner is one of the best places to watch from.

Istanbul Park's long, fast corners make the speed visible from the stands.

The last two races were memorable. In 2020, on a newly resurfaced and very slippery track, Lewis Hamilton won and clinched his seventh world title. In 2021, Valtteri Bottas won in the wet. Rain in early October is possible, and it often changes the race.

Turkish Grand Prix 2027 location: where is Istanbul Park?

Istanbul Park is in Tuzla, on the Asian side of Istanbul, close to the boundary with Pendik. It is near the motorways that run east from the city, and around 10 km from Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

From the European side, where many visitors stay, the circuit is about 50–60 km by road. On a clear day the drive takes around an hour. On race days it can take much longer. Thousands of cars head for the same few junctions in the morning, and all leave together after the chequered flag.

Turkish Grand Prix 2027 tickets: what to know

As of November 2026, tickets are not yet on sale. The official Formula 1 ticketing website and the organisers' site both invite fans to register for news of the sale. No on-sale date has been announced.

When sales open, there will usually be three broad choices:

  • General admission and grandstands. A seat or an area for one, two or all three days. At Istanbul Park, many fans aim for a view of the start, Turn 1 or Turn 8.
  • Hospitality. A suite or lounge with food, shade and screens, usually sold as official packages for the weekend.
  • Paddock-level experiences. Closer to the teams and the pit lane, where offered, and in limited numbers.

Be careful with websites that claim to sell official tickets before sales have opened. Buy through the official channels, or through a seller you can verify. We source tickets and hospitality for our clients through official channels once they become available, and we register interest on your behalf now.

How to get to Istanbul Park on race days

There is no direct metro to the circuit. These are the realistic options:

  1. By car with a driver. The most flexible choice. Leave early, with time to spare before the session you most want to see, and agree a pick-up point for the return.
  2. By helicopter. Where permitted on the day, a helicopter from the city or an airport puts you at the circuit in minutes, with a car at each end. Our guide to private jets and helicopters in Türkiye explains how these transfers work.
  3. Mixed. By car in the morning, when traffic builds gradually, and by helicopter after the race, when everyone leaves at once.
  4. Public transport and shuttles. In past years, special buses ran from the city on race days. Details for 2027 will be announced by the organisers.

Where to stay for the Turkish Grand Prix

Where you stay shapes the whole weekend. There are two sensible approaches.

Stay on the Asian side, close to the circuit

Hotels and homes along the Asian shore, and around Pendik and Tuzla, give you the shortest mornings. The evenings are quieter, with the rest of the city a drive or a boat ride away.

Stay on the Bosphorus and travel in

A hotel or villa on either shore of the Bosphorus gives you Istanbul at its best in the evenings: dinners by the water, the city lit at night. The trade-off is a longer journey to the circuit, which a helicopter can solve.

For groups and families, a private villa or waterfront house for the week, with staff and cars on hand, is often the most comfortable option. Whatever you choose, book early. Race week in Istanbul overlaps with the 19th Istanbul Biennial, which opens on 18 September 2027, and with the busy autumn season. See our guide to the best time to visit Istanbul.

A typical race weekend, day by day

DayPlan
Thursday 30 SeptemberArrival, met at the aircraft and driven to the hotel. A quiet dinner.
Friday 1 OctoberPractice. A calmer day at the circuit to find your bearings, then dinner in the city.
Saturday 2 OctoberQualifying. Out early. The afternoon decides the grid.
Sunday 3 OctoberRace day. Seats or hospitality, and a planned way out once the flag falls.
Monday 4 OctoberA late check-out, a last lunch on the water, the car to the airport.

Many guests add a few days before or after: a private boat on the Bosphorus, a day on the Historic Peninsula, or a short flight to Cappadocia or Bodrum, where early October is still warm.

What is the weather like in early October?

Early October is usually mild in Istanbul, with daytime highs around 20°C and cooler evenings. It is also the start of the autumn rains, and a wet race weekend is entirely possible, as 2021 showed. At the circuit there is little shelter outside the grandstands and hospitality areas, and the walk from the car parks can be long.

  • Layers. A warm morning can turn into a cool, windy afternoon on the hill above the track.
  • A light waterproof. Umbrellas are unpopular in crowded grandstands.
  • Comfortable shoes. Even with a car to the gate, expect to walk a great deal.
  • Ear protection for children, and sun protection on a clear day.

Coming with children

A Grand Prix can be a wonderful family weekend, with some planning. Friday is the calmest day to bring younger children: fewer people, shorter queues and more room to move. A grandstand seat or a hospitality lounge gives them a base, with food and shade. Plan a quieter day in the city between sessions. Our families page explains how we plan trips across three generations.

Hosting clients at the Grand Prix

For a company, the race is a rare chance to host clients in one place for a whole weekend. It needs more planning than a personal trip. That means a block of rooms, hospitality for the right number of guests, cars or coaches on a timetable, dinners that do not clash with qualifying, and often interpreters and guest management. Our events team plans race weekends as a whole, from the first invitation to the last airport transfer.

If you are thinking of coming, tell us now. We will register your interest, hold suitable rooms as soon as you confirm, and send you the plan as the official details are released. Our Grand Prix page shows how we put the weekend together.

Checked by the Megis team on 4 November 2026. Opening hours, rules and seasons change; we confirm every detail again when we plan your trip.

Are Turkish Grand Prix 2027 tickets on sale?

Not yet, as of November 2026. The official Formula 1 ticketing site and the organisers' site offer a waitlist or pre-registration. Be careful with websites that claim to sell official tickets before sales have opened.

Where is Istanbul Park?

Istanbul Park is in the Tuzla district on the Asian side of Istanbul, near the boundary with Pendik and close to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. It is about 50–60 km from Sultanahmet and Taksim by road.

How do I get to Istanbul Park on race day?

Most visitors go by car or by special buses from the city. Traffic around the circuit is heavy before and after the sessions, so leave early and agree a pick-up point in advance. A helicopter, where permitted on the day, avoids the roads entirely.

When did Formula 1 last race in Istanbul?

Is Megis an official Formula 1 partner?

No. Megis Concierge is independent and is not affiliated with Formula 1, FOM or the organisers. We plan the travel, hotels, cars and evenings around the race, and source tickets and hospitality through official channels once they are available.

How much are Turkish Grand Prix 2027 tickets?

Prices for Turkish Grand Prix 2027 tickets have not been announced as of November 2026, because sales have not opened. When they do, the price will depend on the type of ticket, from general admission and grandstand seats to hospitality packages, and on the number of days, one or all three. Many fans aim for a view of the start, Turn 1 or Turn 8. Register on the official Formula 1 ticketing site or with the organisers, TOSFED, and avoid sites that claim to sell before then.

Is Formula 1 coming back to Turkey?

Yes. Formula 1 returns to Turkey in 2027, with the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park on 1–3 October 2027. It will be the tenth Turkish Grand Prix and the first since 2021. The 2027 race opens a new five-year agreement that keeps Istanbul Park on the Formula 1 calendar until 2031, so a race is planned each year through that season, subject to the calendar Formula 1 publishes.

The Turkish Grand Prix is held at Istanbul Park, a circuit designed by Hermann Tilke that opened in 2005. The track is about 5.3 km long, with 14 corners, and runs anticlockwise, which is unusual in Formula 1. Its elevation changes are among the most dramatic on the calendar.
